Jennifer Morrison to Exit 'House': What Will Happen to Cameron?
Jennifer Morrison to Exit 'House': What Will Happen to Cameron? 'House''s Dr. Allison Cameron ended last season on a high note when she married boyfriend and longtime co-worker Dr. Chase. But if the latest rumors are true, it looks like Cameron's happiness may be short-lived. According to the Ausiello Files, actress Jennifer Morrison is exiting 'House' -- not, apparently, of her own accord, but as the result of a "creative decision." Her final episode, which was shot this week, will air sometime in November, leaving the fate of her character in question. What we do know: This is not Kal Penn 2.0, meaning Dr. Cameron will live to see the end of her run (last season, Penn famously left the show for a position in the Obama administration; his character, Dr. Kutner, committed suicide). Hubby Dr. Chase (played by Jesse Spencer) will stay on staff, and there's a chance Morrison will return for a guest spot this season. | | Monday, April 23rd, 2007 | | 11:59 am |

Legoland and Carousel
Developers Looking at Johnson County, Kan., for Legoland April 28, 2006 12:13 PM CDT KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A Kansas City-based developer is scouting sites in Johnson County, Kan., for a $200 million amusement and theme park based on the popular Lego building bricks. RED Development has an agreement with the London-based firm that operates Legoland theme parks to build what would be the fifth park in the world. It would be the cornerstone of a proposed 400 acre, $500 million resort and retail development. "If you end up with a Legoland park, it will be the best attraction you ever had," said Ted Owen, president of the Carlsbad, Calif., Chamber of Commerce, which has benefited from the 128-acre Legoland California near San Diego. "It's built for kids and kids to take their parents to." Officials say the Legoland brand name -- based on the popular, interlocking building bricks invented in Denmark 50 years ago -- would draw visitors to the Kansas City area from a wide swath of the U.S., as far away as Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Minneapolis. The parks in Denmark, Great Britain, Germany and California average about 1.4 million visitors a year, each plunking down admission fees of $43 for children ages 3 to 12 and $53 for adults. "Legoland is a clubhouse of Lego; it's Lego comes alive for fans and guests," said John Ussher, the development executive for Legoland." But RED's entire plan is contingent on the state approving STAR bonds for the project. The STAR bond program allows municipalities to issue bonds for major entertainment and tourism projects and use the sales tax revenues generated by the development to repay the bonds. Dan Lowe, a partner at RED, which also developed the Legends at Village West near the Kansas Speedway in Wyandotte County, said the Johnson County development would include about 500,000 square feet of retail space. No more than half the total cost of the development would be subsidized by tax incentives. "It's a perfect fit for STAR bonds because the goal of the program is to draw visitors from out of state," he said. "This project would do the same thing as Kansas Speedway." If the STAR bonds are approved, construction could begin as early as next spring, with an anticipated opening of early 2009. The park would likely employ about 800 seasonal workers and 110 full-time staff and draw from a market that includes about 54 million people within a day's drive, Lowe said. He also said the development would include a 300- to 500-room resort hotel, shopping and other attractions. ------ Zoo grabs the brass ring with donation for carousel The company that created this carousel for the zoo in Erie, Pa., will build a similar one for the Kansas City Zoo. An old-time carousel with prancing exotic animals and calliope music will greet visitors next summer at the Kansas City Zoo. The Friends of the Zoo board agreed Wednesday to order the carousel based on a gift of $100,000 by an anonymous donor. The zoo will seek to raise the rest of the estimated $900,000 cost of the ride and a shelter and ticket booth. It takes about a year for Carousel Works of Mansfield, Ohio, to create the carved-wood attractions. The Kansas City Zoo intends to place the new carousel by July 4, 2007, near the zoo entrance and the Peacock Cafe, which will be renamed the Carousel Cafe. The 36 animals on the carousel will be zoo creatures such as gorillas and giraffes instead of horses. Carousels have proved popular at zoos and parks across the country. “It’s an old-fashioned Coney Island carousel. It’s not cheap fiberglass. It’s the real thing,” said zoo board and park board member Bob Lewellen, who has visited the factory. “People will come out five or six times a year just to ride the carousel.” ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- Current Mood: cheerful | | Wednesday, April 12th, 2006 | | 10:07 am |

Leavin' for Las Vegas!
Well, we leave for Las Vegas this afternoon!!! Bill has a three-day seminar and I am going along for a little vacation. Some others from his workplace are going, but I will be the only one not going to the seminar, so I'll be on my own during the day. Neither of us have ever been there, so I am looking forward to seeing new sights and having lots of adventures!! We are staying at the Mirage Hotel, which has 14 restaurants, lots of shops, a rainforest, a dolphin habitat (you can pet the dolphins!) and best of all a White Tiger Habitat!! Imagine a hotel with real White Tigers!! We come back late late Wednesday night (flight gets in around midnight) so we are taking Thursday off from work to rest up. I don't know if I'll have easy internet access there so I will update when I get back!! I hope I win a jackpot or something!! I've never been to a casino!! : ) : ) Current Mood: bouncyCurrent Music: quiet morning stillness | | Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006 | | 4:35 pm |

still cold and cute stamps!!
It's still very cold this morning, around 0 degrees! I have a bright red face from being in the cold wind yesterday (it was -14 degrees windchill). Hey, I went to the post office yesterday to get some stamps and they have some really cute ones. I got a page of "Animals From Children's Books" stamps which are adorable!! They include Curious George, Wilbur from Charlotte's Web, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Maisey and many others! The only thing is, I will hate to waste them on bills and stuff. Maybe I'll just keep them. They had other cool stamps such as Superheros and Springflowers! Current Mood: cheerfulCurrent Music: morning silence | | Tuesday, February 14th, 2006 | | 2:12 pm |

Stolen Pen and Weather
Hmmmmm, I just pulled a pen out of my desk drawer that has printed on it: "This Pen has been STOLEN from Patriot Mortgage,LLC, Celebration, Florida." Uh-oh! Honest, Officer, I don't know how it got in my desk drawer! By the way, for all you Florida peoples, it snowed HARD all day Saturday, but it melted quickly. It was down in the teens over the weekend, but today it is sunny and currently 55 degrees!!!! S'posed to be in the upper 50s tommorrow!!!! Current Mood: chipper | | 2:45 pm |
New Office!
Well, I've moved into my new "temporary" office. I'm supposed to only be here for about 6 months until my "brand new" office is built. It's not too bad for a temporary office, however. It's smaller than my old one, but is very cozy. I have a window at least, but it looks out into a window well, but at least I can look up and see the sky and see if it's sunny or snowing or whatever! I have some nice bookshelves and cabinets. I have 3 nice bulletin boards already for me to put up pictures of kids/grandkids, etc!! Bill and I went shopping this weekend and for part of my Valentine's present, Bill bought me a microwave, a coffeemaker, a small fridge and a lamp for my office. We came in yesterday (Sunday) to set it all up. It's really cool, because otherwise I would have to walk quite a ways for everything, plus it's nice having my very own. I had it programmed so that the coffee had just finished brewing 5 minutes before I arrived this morning to work!! I cooked oatmeal in my little microwave for breakfast here instead of going down to the cafeteria. I don't get very good radio reception here in my new place so I am listening through the internet with my good speakers it sounds really nice! Bill brought me some valentine roses!! They are so pretty and makes it smell wonderful in here, too. Hope everyone has a very happy Valentine's Day tommorrow. Our office is having a Valentine Luncheon which should be fun. Sad News
Sad news today from my sister, Hilda. Her little dog Precious died this morning around 11:00. She was very old, around 16 or so and had heart disease. Poor Hilda and Bill are heartbroken. Precious was their "baby" for the last 8 years. Before that, she was my dog for about 3 years. She was a wonderful doggie! Current Mood: sad | | Monday, January 23rd, 2006 | | 1:36 pm |
10 Years!! and Florida Trip!!!
Well today marks my 10 YEAR anniversary here at work!!!! Yay!! I went out with my friends to lunch at Culver's to celebrate with Butterburgers and French Fries. Now I am "vested" with the State, meaning if I leave here, I can cash out my retirement funds, or take it with me to transfer to a different account. It also means I will start getting a "Longevity Bonus" every year! My even more exciting news is that Bill and I leave for Florida tommorrow morning!! We will be staying with Jasmine and Matt if anyone needs to get ahold of us. I will be checking my email regularly as well. We will be gone a week, coming back on Tuesday evening (the 30th). I'm so excited, it's hard to sit still here at work. I can't wait to see all the kids: Jasmine, Matty, Amber & Chris!!!! Hopefully we will get to see Heather and her new apartment! We plan to spend a couple of days at Disney World and we also plan to go to that Pirate Festival Matt was talking about next Saturday!! Anyhow, I will do my best to update LJ when I can!! Feeling much better!
I'm finally feeling a whole lot better, although I still have an annoying cough. It was in the 60's here Saturday and Sunday but today is cooler and they are calling for perhaps snow tonight! Crazy Kansas City weather!! Bill and I went to see "Pride and Prejudice" this weekend. It was very good! I had just finished re-reading the book, so it was fun to see the movie. After the movie we then watched my dvd of "Bride and Prejudice" also based on the book, but it takes place in modern day India (it's quite good too). It was fun to compare the two and both of them have some of the exact same lines which was really weird to see from such different actors and locations. We went to visit Kachina, James, Theo and Ellie on Saturday, since we hadn't seen them since Christmas eve (everyone has been sick). It was so good to see them all doing well and Ellie has grown and changed so much just in 2 weeks! Sunday, I went to work to get caught up since I missed so much. Bill went out to Ben's to help him with their hot water heater installation. Well, that's about it for now! Current Mood: busy | | Monday, January 2nd, 2006 | | 6:54 am |
sick!
Happy New Year everyone! One of my resolutions is to Post in LJ more. I have been really sick pretty much since Christmas(note to Jasmine and Matt--I took a turn for the worse on Saturday) and called the doctor yesterday finally and they told me to go to this "Urgent Care" facility (at Oak Park Mall) since my dr won't be in until Tuesday. It wasn't too bad, we were in and out in less than an hour, but I found out I have bronchitis, almost pneumonia. The dr said it was good thing I came in when I did. I am on antibiotics now and should start feeling better soon. I had a horrible New Years Eve. I was so looking forward to Bill and mine's first New Years together as married! We had all kinds of plans but had to stay home. I had chills and just laid in bed and shivered for hours while I could hear fireworks going off in the background. Bill was such a sweetie, I was really cranky and he was so kind and patient with me! It sounds like Kachina's new year was equally bad, and more difficult because of having to take care of babies while sick! (I remember those days!). But looking on the bright side, surely the rest of 2006 will be much better! Maybe we are getting the ickiness out of the way for the year! It was wonderful having all my kids and grandkids around at Christmas!! Not to mention, nieces, nephews, siblings, etc. We even got to see Heather! It was hard to say goodbye but I was so thankful everyone could come to KC for Christmastime!!! I got alot of really nice gifts and had lots of good food. Well, this isn't much of a post, but I am determined to be better about it! Current Mood: sickCurrent Music: silence | | Tuesday, June 21st, 2005 | | 11:06 am |
Lions free kidnapped girl
Police: Lions free kidnapped girl Tuesday, June 21, 2005; Posted: 11:56 a.m. EDT (15:56 GMT) ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) -- Police say three lions rescued a 12-year-old girl kidnapped by men who wanted to force her into marriage, chasing off her abductors and guarding her until police and relatives tracked her down in a remote corner of Ethiopia. The men had held the girl for seven days, repeatedly beating her, before the lions chased them away and guarded her for half a day before her family and police found her, Sgt. Wondimu Wedajo said Tuesday by telephone from the provincial capital of Bita Genet, some 560 kilometers (348 miles) west of the capital, Addis Ababa. "They stood guard until we found her and then they just left her like a gift and went back into the forest," Wondimu said, adding he did not know whether the lions were male or female. "If the lions had not come to her rescue then it could have been much worse. Often these young girls are raped and severely beaten to force them to accept the marriage," he said. "Everyone ... thinks this is some kind of miracle, because normally the lions would attack people," Wondimu said. Stuart Williams, a wildlife expert with the rural development ministry, said that it was likely that the young girl was saved because she was crying from the trauma of her attack. "A young girl whimpering could be mistaken for the mewing sound from a lion cub, which in turn could explain why they (the lions) didn't eat her," Williams said. "Otherwise they probably would have done." The girl, the youngest of four brothers and sisters, was "shocked and terrified" and had to be treated for the cuts from her beatings, Wondimu said. He said that police had caught four of the men, but were still looking for three others Current Mood: grateful | | Monday, May 9th, 2005 | | 10:28 am |
Dog Saves Baby's Life
NAIROBI, Kenya -- A stray dog saved the life of a newborn baby after finding the abandoned infant in a forest and apparently carrying it across a busy road and through some barbed wire to her litter of puppies, witnesses said. The stray dog found the infant, clad in tattered clothing, in a poor neighborhood near the Ngong Forests in the capital of Nairobi, Stephen Thoya told the independent Daily Nation newspaper. The dog apparently found the baby Friday in the plastic bag in which the infant had been abandoned, said Aggrey Mwalimu, owner of the shed where the animal was guarding its puppies. The seven-pound, four-ounce infant was taken to the hospital for treatment on Saturday. "She is doing well, responding to treatment, she is stable. ... She is on antibiotics," Kenyatta National Hospital spokeswoman Hanna Gakuo told The Associated Press from the hospital, where health workers called the infant Angel. | | Friday, April 22nd, 2005 | | 11:39 am |
Sad
I've been kinda sad the past couple of days.....yesterday was the 7th anniversary of when my Mom died. Actually, I was doing pretty good until last night. In the afternoon Amber, Chris and I went shopping for baby stuff for Baby Ruthie (that was cheerful) and we had snacks at the foodcourt (that was cheerful) and we went to a pet store and looked at puppies (that was cheerful). But last night I started getting really sad....kept thinking about my Mom. It's hard to keep from thinking that "I should have spent more time with her" or "I should have done this or that...." I guess everyone feels that way when a loved one dies, even when you do spend time with them. I know she would be so happy to see her Great-Grandbabies, Theo and Ruthie! She would be so proud of all her Grandchildren! Bill was so kind and patient with me last night, just what I needed! Today, though, it's hard to sit here at work...I just want to go home so I can be by myself and cry! It's raining and thundering outside...would be a good day to sit by a window and cry!!
